Ric Flair is pulling back from the family drama that dominated his social media this week, and he says ongoing health issues may explain some of the frustration that fueled his recent posts.
After firing off messages aimed at his son David Flair, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed he recently found himself at the emergency room and is now focusing on his health instead of the controversy. Flair shared a photo outside a hospital emergency room and offered an apology while explaining that he is dealing with medical issues behind the scenes.
“If you understood the health issues that I deal with and am currently dealing with, you would understand why I get frustrated in life with a lot of people. I’m sorry for the frustration. I am taking time to focus on my health.”
The Nature Boy also posted a screenshot from Apple’s Health app showing a latest heart rate of 100 BPM, a resting heart rate of 98 BPM, and a walking average of 101 BPM. While the data did not reveal a specific diagnosis, it showed his heart rate remaining elevated even while at rest.
The health update arrived after Flair set social media ablaze with a series of posts targeting David Flair and warning about trademark issues involving the famous Flair name. At one point, Flair appeared to suggest legal action could be coming before later walking back the idea.
“I’m Obviously Not Suing My Son. Just Reminding Him That You Can’t Have The Best Of Both Worlds!”
Even while denying that a lawsuit was in the works, Flair made it clear he remains upset with David and challenged him to stop using the Flair name altogether.
“Use Your God Given Name, Fliehr, Which Isn’t Worth A Cup Of Coffee. Or Your Wife’s Name, Who Has Had 3 Generations Of Success. Also, Please Don’t Sell My Robes That I Let You Use During Your Career As You Have Already Sold One. You’re 47 Years Old… Now Stand On Your Own Two Feet Please.”
The comments came after Flair publicly revealed that he and David have been estranged for nearly a decade. In a post that was later deleted, Flair claimed he had spent years attempting to repair the relationship.
“The Relationship Was Gone 9 Years Ago… I’m Sorry & Sad That It Has Come To This. I’ve Tried My Best To Fix Things Over The Years Only To Be Rejected Because Your Wife Runs Your Life.”
Before David was directly named, Flair had posted warnings aimed at someone he knew personally who was allegedly using the Flair trademark.
“Unfortunately, There Is Someone That I’m Very Familiar With Using My Own Trademark FLAIR.”
“I Would Like Anyone Who Is Using My Trademarks- Which Are Impossible To Own And I Own Mine, To Know That I’m Well Represented By A Reputable $1000 Per Hour Attorney That Makes A Living Suing People That Abuse My Trademark.”
He then added the message that led many fans to believe legal action was imminent.
“You Know Who I’m Talking About. I Hope You Can Clear This Up By Monday, And If We Can’t Resolve This Issue, Read The Penalties.”
Not long after sharing his health update, Flair deleted several of the posts directed at David, including the message discussing their fractured relationship. While the legal threats appear to be off the table, the underlying issues between father and son don’t seem to have disappeared.
