Ric Flair has heard the backlash over his Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay comments, and now the Nature Boy is firing back — while making sure Eric Bischoff and Jim Ross catch some heat along the way.
Flair took to X after his comments comparing Omega and Ospreay to his legendary rivalry with Ricky Steamboat sparked plenty of debate. This time, Flair made one thing crystal clear: he enjoyed the AEW All In match and doesn’t want anyone lumping his opinion in with Bischoff’s criticism of it.
Flair said he personally knows both Omega and Ospreay, has praised them directly and has nothing but respect for what they do. His issue was never whether the match was good. He simply believes his opinion about where it ranks historically is exactly that — an opinion.
“Please Don’t Put Me In The Same Category As Eric Bischoff @EBischoff! I Thoroughly Enjoyed The Match. I Know Both Kenny & Will And Have Sung Their Praises To Them Personally. I Have Nothing But Respect For Them. When I Tweeted This Yesterday, It’s Just An Opinion Like Every Other Sport And Watching Get Up Or First Take On ESPN. Doesn’t Mean It’s Right, Doesn’t Mean It’s Wrong. It’s Just An Opinion.”
Then Flair turned the flamethrower toward Bischoff. The Nature Boy told the former WCW boss to worry about his own wrestling project instead of Flair’s opinion. Jim Ross wasn’t spared either, as Flair made it clear that anybody who brings his name into the conversation should expect him to answer.
“Eric Should Just Focus On His New Amateur Wrestling Project. The Same Applies To Jim Ross @JRsBBQ And His Comments. If You Mention My Name, Of Course I Am Going To Respond.”
The response comes after Flair pushed back on Dave Meltzer comparing Omega and Ospreay’s AEW All In main event to the classic Flair-Steamboat rivalry. Meltzer argued that Omega and Ospreay delivered more emotion than any Flair-Steamboat match he had seen.
“I saw countless Flair-Steamboat matches. Seriously, Ospreay vs. Omega had more emotion than any Flair-Steamboat match and Flair-Steamboat was state of the art from 1977 to 1989.”
Flair wasn’t having that comparison. He praised Omega and Ospreay while arguing that their body of work together simply doesn’t compare to the hundreds of matches he worked with Steamboat.
“No One Has More Respect For @KennyOmegamanX And @WillOspreay Than Me! But To Compare Them To Steamboat And I Is Like Comparing The Mississippi River To The Pacific Ocean!”
Flair then doubled down by pointing to the volume and longevity of his rivalry with Steamboat. He finished that original response by telling Omega and Ospreay that being second-best wasn’t exactly an insult.
“When They Have A Great Match 300 Times A Year And 200 Hour Broadways, Get Back To Me!”
“Until Then, There Is No Problem With Being Number Two. You Are Great Young Talent, But Let’s Get Serious Kids! You Should Only Hope That You Have People Talking About Your Matches 37 Years Later! WOOOOO!”
Bischoff came at the match from a completely different direction. He compared Omega vs. Ospreay to a Nasty Boys match and ripped the hardcore style, while Flair says he actually loved what Omega and Ospreay did at Wembley.
So Flair isn’t walking anything back — he’s just drawing a big line between saying Omega and Ospreay aren’t Flair and Steamboat yet and saying their match sucked. And after Bischoff and Ross weighed in on his name, Flair decided they were fair game too.
