Rhino is back on the AEW promotional trail in Detroit, and the hometown veteran is making it clear that he is fired up for the company’s two-night run at the Masonic Temple.
During an appearance on FOX 2 Detroit, Rhino promoted Wednesday’s live Dynamite and Thursday’s special live edition of Collision. PWInsider previously stated that the former WWE, ECW and TNA star is scheduled to appear during the Detroit doubleheader, although his exact role has not been revealed.
Rhino has deep roots in Detroit and said wrestling is one of the few things that regularly pulls him away from home. He also remembered the reaction AEW received during its previous trip to the city.
“The only time I leave Detroit is to go wrestle, and the next two nights of AEW wrestling action are at the Masonic Temple, which I’m excited about. I was part of it last year, and what a crowd. The crowd came out and showed up.”
The “Man Beast” then turned his attention to the AEW locker room, praising the experience and preparation of the wrestlers working for the company. Rhino also gave Tony Khan a strong endorsement, describing the AEW president as an active boss who stays involved with the product.
“A lot of the AEW stars are well-seasoned. They’re well-trained, and they’re invested in the product. Tony Khan is the owner and operator. He’s hands-on, he’s there, he’s making the calls, and he’s a great guy to work for. He puts out a product for families to go out and enjoy.”
This is not the first time AEW has sent Rhino out to help sell tickets in Detroit. He handled promotional work when the company visited the city in May 2025 before stepping into the ring and challenging for the ROH World Television Championship on Dynamite.
Rhino has also remained active away from AEW. He recently appeared on the debut episode of Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Mayhem series, defeating Gama Singh Jr.
AEW has not revealed whether Rhino will wrestle, cut a promo or simply make a hometown appearance this week. Still, putting him on local television and sending him out to promote both shows makes it clear that he is part of the company’s Detroit plans.
