Rey Mysterio’s surprise return to WWE Raw not only reignited his feud with Dominik Mysterio but may have also revealed when and where their long-awaited rematch will take place.
The confrontation between father and son was one of the most intense moments of the night, and according to Dave Meltzer, the clues point to a showdown in Rey’s hometown of San Diego—at Survivor Series 2025.
Dominik was in the middle of bragging to fans that he was “the greatest luchador of all time” when Rey’s music hit to a massive reaction. The veteran luchador wasted no time putting his son in check after weeks of disrespect toward their family and the Mexican wrestling legacy.
“You can say you’re the best champion of all time, but I draw the line when you say you’re the king of the luchadores. You insult my family, our name, our blood. You think you’re the best luchador of all time? What about El Santo? Blue Demon? Eddie Guerrero? You think you’re better than them?”
Dominik smirked and fired back with even more arrogance.
“Yes, I’m better than them. But there’s one luchador I know for a fact I’m better than—and that’s you.”
Rey, clearly fired up, delivered a powerful warning that echoed through the arena.
“You can disrespect me all you want—but I’m not gonna stand here and have you disrespect Lucha. As long as I’m around, you’ll never be king of the luchadors. As long as I’m around, this will never be your ring. And as long as I’m around, you will never be the greatest Mysterio.”
After the confrontation ended with Rey hitting a 619 and Dominik retreating, speculation immediately grew about when this rematch could happen. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is strongly hinting toward the bout taking place at an upcoming San Diego event—Rey’s hometown.
“This was put over too big to not do it on the San Diego show. I think they have to do it there.”
With Rey now medically cleared and WWE pushing the father-son storyline harder than ever, a San Diego showdown seems like the perfect stage for their next clash—where legacy, pride, and family honor will all be on the line.
Do you think WWE will officially announce Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio for the San Diego show? Or will they save their rematch for an even bigger stage? Share your thoughts in the comments.
