Rey Mysterio has been around long enough to see the wrestling business change in ways nobody saw coming, but WWE and AAA working together still caught him by surprise.

During a panel with Going Ringside, Mysterio was asked about WWE’s relationship with AAA and how things have been playing out so far. Rey did not downplay it. He said the response from fans has been huge, especially for those who have actually been in the building to feel it live.

“The reaction has been incredible.”

Rey said watching it on social media or television only tells part of the story. According to him, being there in person makes the energy feel even bigger.

“If you’re there live, you’ll realize that it’s extremely incredible.”

That reaction means even more to Rey because AAA is not just another wrestling company to him. It is part of his foundation. Mysterio explained that AAA gave him one of his first major platforms when he was still trying to make his name in the business.

“My first opportunity to be able to wrestle on national television was in 1992 with Triple A when that company started.”

That is why seeing WWE and AAA linked together now feels so wild for him. Rey admitted he never imagined the two companies would end up working together in any serious way.

“To see that coming full circle… would I have ever thought that WWE and Triple A were going to work together? Never.”

Now Rey is not only watching it happen, he is involved in a major way. Mysterio said being connected to AAA again, especially after the role that company played in launching his career, means a lot to him.

“To be general manager of the company that gave me my first opportunity is incredible.”

For Rey Mysterio, this is more than a business move between two wrestling brands. AAA helped open the door for him back in 1992, WWE turned him into a worldwide icon, and now both sides are crossing paths in a way he never thought he would see.
