Tony Khan is taking AEW into new territory, and now he’s explaining exactly how the upcoming “Fairway to Hell” event came together and why it’s being done in the first place.

While speaking to Good Karma Wrestling, Tony Khan broke down the idea behind AEW’s upcoming “Fairway to Hell” special edition of Collision for May 9th, which will take place at the SoFi Center in South Florida — a venue more commonly tied to golf than wrestling. Khan explained that this wasn’t a last-minute idea, but something that had been in the works through ongoing conversations with major names in the golf world.

"We’ve been talking to the TGL and the PGA Tour about collaborating with AEW, and it came together to put on AEW Fairway to Hell this Saturday. It’s going to be an awesome show—you don’t want to miss it. There are still tickets available, or you can watch it on TBS. You can stream it on HBO Max, watch it on cable, satellite, YouTube TV—however you watch TBS—and it’s on in 150 countries all over the world."

The AEW President made it clear that the goal is to bring two audiences together, professional wrestling and golf, and create something that stands out from a standard weekly show.

"The eyes of the wrestling world—and now the golf world—are going to be on AEW, and we’re bringing you Fairway to Hell. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, and I hope to continue this event and incorporate a charity golf tournament—Fairway to Heaven—as the other piece."

Khan also pointed to the working relationship behind the scenes, highlighting how the collaboration came together and why it’s something he’s personally invested in.

"Everyone is really excited. This has been a great collaboration. It’s been great working with TGL and the PGA. Now that my good friend Brian Rolapp has taken over the PGA, there are a lot of great things happening there. I’m excited to have AEW come to West Palm this Saturday and team up with the world of golf, which I love so much—and I love wrestling."

Bottom line—AEW isn’t just putting on another show. “Fairway to Hell” is a crossover experiment that blends wrestling with the golf world, and if it works, it could become something AEW revisits regularly.

Do you think AEW mixing wrestling with golf for “Fairway to Hell” is a smart move, or is it too far outside the usual formula? Let us know your thoughts.
