Liv Morgan may be chasing Queen of the Ring, but a new report suggests there is another reason she is in the tournament right now.
While speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed that WWE’s current creative direction for Morgan involves Stephanie Vaquer. The issue is that Vaquer is not ready to return yet, so WWE is keeping Liv active until that plan can move forward.
“I asked about the Liv Morgan thing and basically the mentality is, what they’ve planned out with her involves Stephanie Vaquer and she’s not ready yet, and so when she’s ready they will resume. And my immediate retort was, so why not just come up with something else in the meantime? But that’s just not how they operate for whatever reason. Basically, they’re going to just do the next step with Stephanie. Stephanie’s hurt, so Liv’s just going to exist in the meantime.”
Vaquer has been out of action after suffering a legitimate second-degree AC joint sprain. WWE wrote her off television on the April 27 episode of RAW with a storyline attack, and her absence raised more questions after she was removed from newer promotional material.
Before the injury, WWE had discussed a possible feud between Vaquer and Morgan heading into Backlash 2026. Now, it appears that direction is still the plan, but WWE is waiting until Vaquer is cleared before taking the next step.
That helps explain why Morgan, despite already being Women’s World Champion, is part of the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament. During the Clash in Italy post-show, Morgan said she entered because she wants everything.
“All these women had an incredible night—but you know what they all have in common? They’ve all been beaten by Liv Morgan. So I was like, okay, let me expand upon this. It had me thinking about all the people who say Morgan isn’t a good champion—Liv Morgan doesn’t defend her title, Liv Morgan isn’t worthy of being champion. So you know what that made me think? That made me think I am entering the Queen of the Ring tournament because I want it all. I want it all.”
The Women’s World Champion is set to face Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Chelsea Green on the June 8 episode of Monday Night RAW in a Fatal 4-Way to determine who advances in the Queen of the Ring tournament.
For now, Liv is staying busy in the tournament while WWE waits for Stephanie Vaquer. That may explain the booking, but it also raises a bigger question about how long Morgan can be kept in holding mode before her next major title program begins.
