TNA’s latest round of cuts suddenly makes a lot more sense, and it does not sound great.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA is still losing money even after landing its new United States TV deal with AMC for Thursday night IMPACT. That reportedly led to the company making cost-cutting moves in mid-June.

That is the big update here, because TNA had described the cuts as a “workforce reduction” meant to streamline operations and sharpen strategy. But behind the scenes, people were reportedly questioning how valuable the AMC deal really was if jobs were still being cut.

The cuts have already hit several names. Tommy Dreamer parted ways with the company, Sami Callihan was fired despite working as a former TNA World Champion and backstage producer, and heavy cuts were also made to TNA’s production team. Aiden Prince later confirmed he was also let go, saying the news hit hard after spending years with the company.

“Yesterday, i got the call that i was let go from TNA. “Id be lying if i said i wasn’t bummed, my work has been so much of my life for the last 4/5 years. Thank you everyone I had the pleasure of working with.”

So, while TNA has been getting more attention through its WWE crossover and the AMC deal sounded like a positive step, this report paints a much rougher picture. If the company is still losing money with a new TV deal in place, then these cuts may not be the last tough decision Anthem has to make.

Do you think TNA can turn things around with the AMC deal, or are these cuts a bad sign for the company’s future? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
