Randy Orton was watching Cody Rhodes’ big SmackDown warning from home, and judging by his reaction, he wasn’t exactly shaking in his boots. Orton filmed himself on Instagram watching Cody’s October 30 promo ahead of their Last Man Standing Match at Crown Jewel, and he had a pretty hard time taking some of it seriously.
During the promo, Cody spoke about the damage he plans on doing to Orton and even apologized in advance to Randy’s wife and five children. Cody said he was sorry for what he was going to do to Orton’s complexion before bringing up what happened between them at WrestleMania 42.
That’s when things got funny on Orton’s end. Cody showed an image of the eye injury he suffered after being punted by Orton at WrestleMania 42. As the photo appeared on his television, Randy could be seen trying very hard to keep a straight face, but he clearly found the whole thing pretty damn amusing.
Orton’s reaction got even better when Cody reminded everyone that despite the damage he took that night, he still walked away with the victory, saying, “Believe it or not, I won that match.” Randy immediately fired back with a perfectly timed response.
“Did ya?”
There’s also a hell of a lot riding on their next fight beyond settling their personal issues. Cody revealed that the winner of their Last Man Standing Match will become the #1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship, giving both men a direct path back into the world title picture.
But Orton sitting at home trying not to laugh at Cody’s damaged eye certainly doesn’t make it look like he’s losing any sleep over those threats. If anything, Randy seems to be enjoying just how personal this has gotten — and his little “Did ya?” jab shows he can still get under Cody’s skin without even being in the building.
