Pretty Boy Smooth thinks some wrestling fans have forgotten how to just enjoy the show.
During his appearance on Jasmin St. Claire’s Krazy Train podcast, the NWA star talked about what pulled him into wrestling in the first place. For him, it was never just about moves. It was about characters who felt larger than life.
Smooth said he wasn’t sitting there as a fan obsessing over every flashy move. He wanted to see people who felt like stars.
“And that’s what drew me into wrestling. It was the larger life characters. I didn’t necessarily care if you could do like a 450 or whatever. You know what I mean?”
That led to a bigger point about the way fans consume wrestling now, especially online. Smooth said not every fan is guilty of this, but a lot of people seem to watch just so they can pick everything apart. Smooth admitted that makes things harder for wrestlers trying to connect with fans.
“And unfortunately, it seems like on the internet, not all the fans, but a lot of fans watch it to judge it and critique it as opposed to just enjoy it and be enamored with the story and, you know, just watch the television show.”
“So, um, you know, it’s it’s definitely tough to navigate, but, you know, we’re doing our best.”
He is not wrong that wrestling online can turn into a nonstop debate room. Every match gets graded, every promo gets torn apart, and every creative choice gets treated like a courtroom case.
Smooth’s point is simple. Wrestling was built on characters, stories, and letting yourself get pulled into the ride. Some fans still do that. Others seem more interested in proving they know better than everyone else.
