Kairi Sane and AEW have been talking — they just haven’t gotten the deal across the finish line.
Fightful Select says Kairi is still not signed with AEW as of the latest update, but that isn’t because Tony Khan’s side hasn’t tried. There have been discussions between Kairi and the company, with a deal simply not completed yet. That also clears up the biggest question coming out of All In.
Kairi wasn’t sitting backstage waiting for some last-second debut, and AEW apparently never had her factored into the Wembley show at any point. Sources familiar with the situation indicated it never looked especially likely that she would be signed in time for All In anyway. So while fans spent days wondering whether AEW was keeping Thekla open for a surprise Kairi appearance, that was never actually part of the plan.
Kairi remains one of the biggest free agents available, and AEW isn’t the only company trying to land her. There is interest from multiple promotions, including companies outside the United States. One place that does not appear to be her next home is Marigold. Sources familiar with the situation indicated Kairi is not expected to end up there in Japan.
That keeps the door wide open on where she lands next. Kairi had already revealed that she received more offers than she could count after leaving WWE, and she also listed Barry Bloom as her representative for business inquiries, which only poured more gas on the AEW speculation.
For now, though, Kairi is still a free agent. AEW has talked to her. Other companies want her. All In came and went without her. Now the question is which company finally gets her signature.
