Pinky Montoya says WWE didn’t just blindside her with her release — they never even told her why she was being fired. The former Haze Jameson says she believed she was moving toward WWE LFG Season 3 when a random phone call suddenly ended her run with the company.
Speaking with Tommy Dreamer on Busted Open Radio, Montoya opened up about the October 2025 release that completely caught her off guard. Ringside News covered Montoya’s WWE release at the time, when she was still performing under the Haze Jameson name after competing on WWE LFG and EVOLVE.
What made the situation hurt even more was that Montoya wasn’t sitting around expecting bad news. She said Season 2 had recently wrapped and she was under the impression she would be moving right into Season 3.
“I think we recently finished up season two and under the impression at the time that I was going to be on season three. And it was just really, I don’t know when they actually ended up starting filming season three. But I like heard like, ‘We’re doing a different vibe this season,’ like you’d said, like the more reality aspect of it. And I was super excited about it. I got some good info with like, people being excited about me being on season three, seeing where I could go in the career and everything.”
“And then I got the phone call, um, and just basically being released, um, recently after I think they finish. And I don’t exactly know the start date of season three when they started filming, but it was right in between then. And um, yeah, I just got the phone call randomly one day and that was the end of that.”
Dreamer then asked Montoya what WWE actually told her when they let her go. That’s where things got even more frustrating, because Montoya says she immediately asked why she was being fired and couldn’t get a straight answer.
“Yeah, so it was, it was a phone call and it was just, we, um, wanna let you know that we’re like firing you basically. I don’t remember the exact verbiage, but it was something along those lines. And I, at the time, like I did, it was very unexpected, like unexpected to me. And I had asked, I’m like, ‘Why? Like please tell me why.’ And it was, ‘We can’t, we don’t know or we don’t have the answer for you.’”
Montoya wasn’t asking just to argue the decision. She wanted to know what WWE believed went wrong so she could actually learn from it if she continued pursuing wrestling. According to Montoya, the call ended and she still had nothing.
“And I, I asked a couple of times and I was like, ‘Please, like, I just, I wanna understand better of why, what played into this decision.’ So especially like continuing on wrestling, which at the time with all of the emotions and all of like the shock factor, I didn’t know what to do next. I just knew that I wanted to know why.”
“So I asked a couple of times and by the end of the phone call still just no reason or background of what played into the decision with letting me go.”
That lack of an explanation hit hard because wrestling had stopped being some experiment for Montoya. She had become emotionally invested in the business and suddenly had the door slammed shut without being told what caused it.
“But, um, it was, it was a heartbreak for me. And it took a long time for me to kind of accept the fact that I was released. I had felt a very strong connection and my relationship with wrestling just blossomed. So at the time it was just very shocking and a lot of emotions did come from the news that I got, got that day.”
Montoya was part of a larger group of developmental talent released by WWE in October 2025, but her comments now give fans her side of exactly how that call went down. WWE moved forward with a very different-looking third season of LFG in 2026, while Montoya eventually rebuilt herself outside the company under the Pinky Montoya name.
