Penta says it’s not a question of if the Lucha Brothers reunite—it’s only a matter of when.
Speaking with the Dallas Morning News, the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion addressed the future of one of wrestling’s most popular tag teams, making it clear that he fully expects to team with his brother Rey Fenix again.
“Definitely, definitely. I expect that. Because I know in my heart, at some point, the Lucha Bros will come together again. When? I don’t know exactly, but for now, I’ll enjoy this kind of season in my life, in my career, in singles. My brother, too. Now he is champion, I am champion. Now we’ve started building in different ways. … But the most important thing is, I promise you, at some point the Lucha Bros will be back.”
For now, though, Penta believes both brothers are exactly where they need to be. Rather than rushing the reunion, he pointed to the success each has found as a singles competitor, with both men establishing themselves outside the tag team before eventually bringing the Lucha Brothers back together.
Penta’s comments echo what Rey Fenix said earlier this year when he was asked why WWE hasn’t reunited them on television despite months of competing separately. At the time, Fenix admitted he missed wrestling alongside his brother but insisted the separation was giving both of them the chance to prove themselves as singles stars before the inevitable reunion.
Those comments were followed by another tease at AAA Rey de Reyes 2026, where Penta suggested the Lucha Brothers could reunite in the future—possibly at TripleManía. The moment sparked loud “Lucha Brothers” chants from the crowd, showing just how eager fans are to see the brothers back together.
The Lucha Brothers haven’t competed as a team since the July 19, 2024 episode of AEW Rampage, where they defeated Private Party. More than two years later, the reunion fans have been waiting for still hasn’t happened—but if Penta is to be believed, it’s no longer a matter of speculation.
