Penta is not trying to be the next version of anybody, and he made that very clear when talking about his WWE run.
While speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Penta was asked what feels different about the WWE version of his character. Fans have seen him wear plenty of masks and go through different chapters, but Penta said this version feels like the real deal.
Penta explained that he feels more experienced, more confident, and more comfortable in WWE. He also made it clear that his entire goal has always been to stand alone, not follow in anyone else’s shadow.
“This is a good question, but I think more experienced, brother. I feel more sure in everything. I feel more comfortable too because I feel WWE is the real Penta style. I feel glad there. I feel special there because, as I mentioned before years ago, I don’t want to be the next Rey Mysterio. I want to be the first Penta. Penta is very different. Penta is special because Penta has different things. I don’t want to be the copy of the copy, the registered copy.”
Penta kept going and said his look, mask, colors, and style are all built around who he is. He said the mission is still the same now that he is in WWE, and he is not thinking small.
“I have my original style. I have everything about and focused on Penta. About the mask, the colors, everything is the same. I put a little bit of red on my mask, but finally the target is the same, bro. I come to WWE to conquer everything. Now I’m focusing on my Intercontinental Championship, but why not one day? Why not World Champion or Tag Team Champion? For now, step by step. I prefer to go ahead step by step, bro.”
That is a strong message from Penta, especially with Rey Mysterio still being one of the biggest Mexican stars in WWE history. Penta clearly respects the lane, but he is not looking to drive in someone else’s. He wants his WWE run to be remembered as its own thing. Penta is already making noise as Intercontinental Champion, and he is talking like someone who sees a much bigger future ahead in WWE.
Do you think Penta can eventually become a WWE World Champion, or is the Intercontinental Title the right spot for him right now? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments section below.
