Paige is grateful as hell to be wrestling again after eight years away, but apparently that gratitude has its limits. The former Divas Champion says she’s still going to fight for her television time — and she knows that might occasionally make her a pain in WWE’s ass.
Speaking to Metro UK, Paige opened up about her WWE return and how much being back in the ring means to her. But she made it clear that getting another opportunity doesn’t mean she’s suddenly going to sit quietly when something involving her gets chopped.
“I do appreciate every single second that I get to be on TV and in that ring. And the fact that I managed to return after eight years, I am so grateful for that. But that doesn’t mean I won’t put my foot down when it comes to TV time.”
That includes things like having her entrance removed or seeing time taken away from her matches. Paige isn’t only worried about getting more minutes for herself either, because she wants WWE’s women’s division as a whole to get as much television exposure as possible. And Paige knows exactly what comes with being that vocal backstage. She admitted WWE might occasionally find her difficult to deal with, but she also seems pretty convinced the company knew exactly what it was getting when it brought her back.
“The more, the merrier with them on TV. They work their ass off. The men work their ass off too, but you know how it is. I am vocal, and this time around I’m always gonna be that person. I think WWE knows that already. And I feel like they love me for it. At the same time, it might be a pain in the ass to deal with me sometimes!”
Those comments hit a little differently considering Paige has already seen one of her planned WWE segments disappear from television since returning. Her promo addressing Nikki Bella was originally scheduled for the August 14 episode of SmackDown, but it never made the broadcast.
Paige also made her frustration pretty obvious on social media at the time, particularly when it came to women losing television time. So her latest comments make it clear that wasn’t just a one-night reaction — she fully intends on speaking up whenever she thinks herself or the rest of WWE’s women’s roster is getting shortchanged.
