A new backstage report has revealed that AEW originally had a very different direction in mind for Adam Copeland and Christian Cage heading into All In.
The AEW World Tag Team Champions are currently tied up with David Finlay and Clark Connors after getting destroyed on the May 27 episode of Dynamite, but a new update claims AEW originally had a different plan for the champs.
While speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed that the original All In direction was Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defending the AEW Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks in a type of plunder match.
“I can tell you guys this. The original plan for All In was going to be Bucks and Edge and Christian directly. I always thought FTR were going to be in that match, but it was just going to be Bucks and Edge and Christian in some type of plunder match.”
That’s a pretty huge change because Copeland and Christian vs. The Young Bucks would have been a major tag team showdown for AEW’s biggest stage of the year. Instead, Finlay and Connors crashed the party after Double or Nothing and left the champions laid out.
The Young Bucks are still involved in the drama, though. They’re now set to face Finlay and Connors on AEW Collision: Summer Blockbuster, which means the Copeland and Christian vs. Bucks idea may not be totally dead yet. For now, AEW seems to be taking the tag title scene in a different direction, but this update makes it clear the company had big plans for Copeland, Christian, and The Young Bucks at All In.
