AEW WrestleDream 2025 kicked off with a twist — the first match of the night, FTR vs. JetSpeed, was already in progress when the pay-per-view went live. It followed AEW’s Tailgate broadcast on TNT, and while some saw the move as an attempt to inject unpredictability, others saw it as sloppy.

One of the loudest critics was Raj Giri, founder of WrestlingInc.com, who called out the company’s production team for what he saw as poor pacing and bad optics. Giri argued that starting the show mid-match didn’t feel like a creative decision — it felt amateur.

“This just seems low rent, like the people don’t know how to time a show, even if it was intentional. It looms minor league.”

Giri’s take wasn’t isolated — several fans online echoed the same sentiment, suggesting the execution made AEW look like it couldn’t manage its own show flow. That’s when AEW star Nyla Rose stepped in with a sharp rebuttal. She pushed back hard on the idea that AEW was disorganized, insisting the decision was about presenting wrestling in a more chaotic and real-feeling way.

“Narrator: It actually doesn’t…. Post like this, however, do scream ‘hey, I’m going out of my way to discredit a promotion for trying something to make the heavily scripted world of professional wrestling seem wild and unpredictable’”

Rose then challenged critics to think about what the company was trying to accomplish — making the audience question whether the chaos was part of the show or not.

“Because if your first thought watching this isn’t damn that match is so intense they didn’t even finish up before the main show. or at least questioning the legitimacy (pretty much the entire goal of anyone in professional wrestling) then you’re just an asshat with a chip on your shoulder (or someone in your pocket) 🤷🏽‍♀️.”

At the end of the day, whether you see AEW’s WrestleDream opener as a sloppy production call or a clever attempt to make things feel raw and unpredictable, it definitely lit up the timeline. Raj Giri’s “low rent” jab and Nyla Rose’s fiery clapback turned a production choice into one of the most talked‑about moments of the night.
