Nikki Bella once tried shooting her shot with a good-looking stranger on an airplane, only to find out pretty quickly that he was very much unavailable. The WWE Hall of Famer says she tried sending the guy a drink before a flight attendant came back with the one response she definitely wasn’t hoping for.
The story came up during The Nikki & Brie Show while Nikki and Brie Bella were chatting with Victoria Arlen about books. When Arlen picked The Shack as a book she could read over and over again, Nikki immediately remembered a pretty awkward moment from years ago.
Nikki said The Shack was everywhere at the time, and she happened to notice an attractive man sitting a few rows behind her reading it. Apparently, that was enough for her to decide to make the first move.
“You wanna hear a funny story? So, I’m on a flight when it came out, and, you know, everyone’s reading it. I’m on a plane, and this good-looking man is sitting a few rows behind me, and I noticed he’s reading The Shack. And so the flight attendant, she comes over, and I was like, ‘Can you send that man a drink?’”
Unfortunately for Nikki, the drink didn’t exactly work its magic. The flight attendant returned shortly afterwards and informed her that the mystery man had turned down the offer because he was married.
“And then she came back, and she was like, ‘Sorry, he said no, he’s married,’ and blah, blah. And I’m like, ‘Okay.’ And I gave a thumbs up, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m never doing that again.’”
At least things didn’t get too uncomfortable after that. Nikki said the man seemed to appreciate the gesture and laughed about it, with the two exchanging thumbs-ups from their seats.
“But he appreciated it, and he laughed and gave me the thumbs up. But I was just like, seeing this good-looking man, he’s reading The Shack.”
So Nikki’s attempt at some mid-flight flirting didn’t exactly produce the result she wanted, but at least the rejection couldn’t have been much friendlier. All it took was somebody mentioning The Shack for the whole embarrassing memory to come flying right back.
