Nikki Bella has been getting roasted by wrestling fans for repeatedly butchering wrestlers’ names, and she’s not exactly begging for forgiveness. After being called out for mispronouncing both Blake Monroe and Stephanie Vaquer, Nikki basically told fans they might as well get used to it.
While speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Nikki Bella brought up one of her latest mistakes. She had been calling Blake Monroe “Blake Menroe,” and wrestling fans were quick to let her know about it.
“You know me, girl. I was saying Blake ‘Menroe’ instead of ‘Monroe,’ and people are giving me s***.”
Brie Bella saw an opportunity. Instead of trying harder to get everyone’s names right, she jokingly suggested they should go completely in the opposite direction by making it her gimmick.
“Say all their names wrong. Do it on purpose. Gonna be the gimmick. Say everyone’s name wrong.”
The problem for Nikki is that fans already have receipts. The Blake Monroe mistake immediately reminded people of another name Nikki previously struggled with: Stephanie Vaquer. Nikki had called her “Stephanie Vaquay,” and apparently fans haven’t forgotten that one either. Nikki knew exactly what people were saying.
Nikki: “Yeah, that’s what they brought up. Like, ‘Oh, first it’s Stephanie Vaquay and then Blake Menroe.’ It’s like, yeah b****, how about that?”
Instead of getting defensive about every individual mistake, Nikki leaned straight into it. She brought up dyslexia and then admitted that sometimes she simply doesn’t pronounce things correctly.
“Yeah. How about dyslexia? You don’t even give a s*** about—oh, and I just don’t pronounce things right. It’s my thing. It’s my thing. It’s my thing.”
So anyone waiting for Nikki to suddenly become flawless with wrestling names probably shouldn’t hold their breath. She knows about “Stephanie Vauay,” she knows about “Blake Menroe,” and fans reminding her about both apparently isn’t going to ruin her day. At this point, Brie may have accidentally found the easiest solution—just turn it into the gimmick.
