Nikki Bella still can’t believe how close she came to disaster during one embarrassing high school driving mistake. According to Nikki, if she hadn’t reacted in time, she could have driven straight into dozens of people gathered outside a sandwich shop.
Speaking on The Nikki and Brie Show, the twins were laughing about Nikki’s previous freeway nightmare when the conversation reminded her of another driving mishap from high school. Nikki recalled pulling into a popular sandwich shop where students from their school regularly hung out, and the only available parking spot happened to be directly in front of the store with plenty of juniors and seniors standing outside.
“So in high school, it’s like this sandwich spot where everyone went to, like, all high school. And Nicole goes, and of course the parking spot, like, in front of the sandwich shop, facing the sandwich shop, with all the seniors and juniors.”
Instead of pressing the brake while pulling into the parking space, Nikki accidentally hit the accelerator. Her car shot through the bushes, and she said she only just managed to stop before anyone was hurt.
“Instead of hitting the brake to park, you guessed it, I hit the pedal. You guys, I went through the bushes. If I didn’t hit that brake so quick, I would’ve probably killed 30 people. I mean, everyone, and everyone’s looking at me like, ‘Holy s***.’”
Brie remembered seeing the whole thing go down and admitted she immediately wanted to pretend Nikki wasn’t her sister. She even compared herself to Homer Simpson disappearing into the bushes.
“I think I was outside. I, like, have you ever seen that meme in Homer Simpson where he, like, kinda goes in the bushes? Like, ‘It’s not my sister.’ I was like, ‘F***.’”
That reminded Brie Bella of another embarrassing memory from their childhood, joking that she reacted the same way after watching Nikki pee her pants in elementary school.
“By the way, that’s how I felt when you peed your pants in second grade, when the whole school’s running and I see the clown just peeing her pants. I’m like, kept running. Like, ‘That’s not my sister.’”
Meanwhile, Nikki admitted she completely froze. She was so embarrassed that she refused to get out of the car and was too scared to even try reversing because she thought she’d hit the accelerator again.
“I was like, ‘I’m not getting out and getting a sandwich.’ I’m not even… I was too scared at that point to reverse and I was gonna hit the pedal again. I just, I like froze. I was like, ‘I’m never showing my face ever again.’ You know when your head feels, like, gigantic? I just was so thankful that I didn’t hit anyone.”
Brie joked that Nikki always seemed to have someone watching over her whenever these bizarre driving situations happened: “Once again, all your angels were around you. Holy smokes.” Nikki Bella agreed and immediately remembered yet another close call from the very first day she got her driver’s license while driving with her brother JJ.
“Yeah, you got a couple, like, weird situations like that. And I feel like there was a couple more. And, like, the first day I got my driver’s license and with JJ, I, like, forgot that when you go around a corner, you don’t hit the pedal yet, your brakes. I remember I floored it and we went up on two wheels.”
Fortunately, none of Nikki’s driving mishaps ended with anyone getting hurt, which is why she and Brie can laugh about them today. Between almost driving into a crowd outside a sandwich shop and her infamous freeway ordeal, though, it’s safe to say Nikki’s early years behind the wheel created more than a few stories the twins will probably never stop telling.
