Nikki Bella may have just crushed any hope of another one-on-one WWE showdown with her twin sister Brie Bella. Despite wanting another match against Brie for years, Nikki now believes injuries and their approaching retirement could prevent the sisters from ever facing each other again.
During an interview with SportsRadio 94WIP, Nikki was asked whether she and Brie would consider having another match against each other before their wrestling careers come to an end. The question brought up their memorable rivalry in 2014, which saw Nikki defeat Brie at WWE Hell in a Cell in a match that forced Brie to become her sister’s personal assistant for 30 days.
Nikki admitted that another match was something she genuinely wanted, especially because of how naturally they worked together in the ring. However, the injuries both sisters have experienced and the limited time remaining in their careers have completely changed her outlook.
“I mean, now, like after our injuries, I don’t think so. I just don’t think we’re so like at the end of our in-ring careers that I feel like it just has to be together at this point. I would have loved that though before because I really loved that match with Brie.”
Nikki then compared her chemistry with Brie to the connection she has experienced wrestling Paige. She explained that some opponents simply understand each other in the ring, making their matches feel natural. She even imagined a storyline where Brie could interrupt her ongoing issues with Paige and challenge her sister.
“Um it’s a lot like when I have my matches with Paige. You know, there’s certain people you work with and you have great chemistry with and you give a lot to each other and I remember that match. We just are timing like, you know, you just have chemistry and um I would have loved to have one more thing with Brie, especially how I am now. I would love for Brie to like if it was still Paige and I in a story for her to come in and call me out. I’d be like, ‘What?’ But like by the time she heals and comes back, I don’t I don’t think it’ll happen, unfortunately.”
The timing couldn’t be worse for the Bella Twins. Brie has been sidelined since suffering multiple fractures in her scapula during WWE SummerSlam on August 1, 2026. As Ringside News previously covered, Brie’s October CT scan showed that her fractured bones had still not fused, leaving her unable to resume wrestling.
There is also the matter of how much longer the sisters intend to compete. Earlier this year, Nikki revealed that she and Brie signed two-year WWE contracts beginning at the 2026 Royal Rumble. At the time, she indicated that the agreement would likely mark the final chapter of their in-ring careers.
Nikki’s comments don’t mean a final match against Brie is completely impossible, but she clearly isn’t counting on it anymore. What once seemed like a perfect way to close out their longstanding WWE history now appears increasingly unlikely, with Brie’s recovery taking priority and their retirement plans getting closer.
