Nick Khan isn’t losing sleep over WWE’s recent attendance dip—and he’s pointing to a bigger long-term plan behind the numbers.

While speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Khan was asked directly about reports of slightly lower live attendance and whether it’s something WWE is worried about right now. His answer was immediate—and dismissive of any major concern.

“Listen, we’re down like a single-digit percentage—so like 1–2%, whatever it is. No, I’m not concerned at all.”

Khan explained that WWE anticipated fluctuations, especially with major shifts happening around top-tier talent. One of the biggest factors was the retirement run of John Cena last year, which the company had already factored into its strategy.

“You’ve seen John Cena’s retirement tour, which we planned for. We assumed people were going to treat it as real—this is the last time you’re going to see him wrestle in this city—and we planned for that.”

Instead of to short-term dips, Khan stated that WWE is focused on what comes next—especially as its biggest stars age out of their peak years. That forward-looking mindset, according to Khan, is what drives WWE’s decision-making right now. Instead of worrying about minor percentage drops, the company is prioritizing sustainability and future headliners.

“We have a crop of A+ listers who can main event. Okay, they’re not in their 20s or 30s anymore—let’s plan for that. It’s all about trying to see what’s around the corner and getting ready for it.”

Khan’s comments make it clear WWE isn’t panicking over attendance trends—instead, it’s adjusting its strategy as the current generation of stars begins to phase into a new era.
