Nick Aldis may be back behind the desk on SmackDown, but WWE sources do not believe his match with GUNTHER at SummerSlam was a one-and-done deal.

Fightful Select states that people within WWE do not think Aldis has wrestled his final match for the company. That is a major development after the SmackDown General Manager stepped back into the ring at SummerSlam and walked away looking like he had been through a car crash.

Aldis appeared during the SummerSlam Sunday Countdown show with Jackie Redmond while sporting a black eye and wearing a cast on his right hand. The damage made it clear that his fight with GUNTHER came with a serious price.

He had already put his authority on the line just to make the match happen. Aldis stepped down as SmackDown General Manager before facing GUNTHER, but Triple H later tore up his resignation letter and immediately put him back in charge.

Aldis has refused to promise another match, but he has also made it clear that he would consider wrestling again under the right circumstances. WWE sources now appear to believe that opportunity will eventually come.

For now, Aldis remains SmackDown General Manager. However, after his performance against GUNTHER and the latest word from inside WWE, SummerSlam likely will not be the last time he trades the suit for wrestling gear.
