Trick Williams and Baron Corbin are officially getting locked inside a steel cage. WWE took to X on September 23, 2026 to announce that the United States Championship rivalry is going to another level on the September 25 episode of SmackDown from Indianapolis.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis delivered the news himself in a video, explaining that things between Williams and Corbin have gotten too ugly for another normal match. According to Aldis, traditional rules aren’t going to contain either man anymore. Aldis said:
“Good morning. It’s your SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. Sometimes a conflict between two people reaches such a level that resolution is no longer an option, only escalation. I believe that the rivalry between Trick Williams and Baron Corbin over the United States Championship is such a conflict. So what do we do? It’s clear to me that these two men will not be contained by the confines of traditional competition. So I’ve decided that it’s time for escalation. And that escalation will take place live this Friday night on SmackDown on USA Network and around the world on Netflix from Indianapolis, Indiana, where Baron Corbin will challenge Trick Williams for the United States Championship inside a steel cage.”
That puts Trick’s United States Championship directly in the middle of the chaos, with Corbin getting his shot in a match designed to keep outside interference to a minimum and force both men to settle things inside the cage.
So there’s no more running, no more excuses and nowhere to hide on Friday night. Trick Williams and Baron Corbin are getting locked in a steel cage with the United States Championship hanging in the balance, and Aldis is basically letting the cage handle the rest.
