The Lucha Brothers reunion may finally be more than Penta and Rey Fenix telling everyone to be patient. According to a new backstage report, WWE is expected to bring the brothers back together once their current singles business is finished.
Speaking during the August 11 edition of Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro revealed that he’s been told to expect Penta and Fenix to reunite following the ongoing AAA tournament.
“I was told to expect a Lucha Brothers reunion once all of this is said and done.”
And WWE has suddenly created a pretty convenient road to get there. Penta defeated Laredo Kid on the August 10 episode of Monday Night RAW to advance in the AAA tournament, where the eventual winner will challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14 edition of RAW in Mexico City.
Fenix is in the tournament too. That immediately opens the door for WWE to put the brothers across the ring from each other before finally putting them back on the same side. Self Made Pro stressed that what comes next is his own prediction rather than something he was told, but he can already see one obvious way WWE could get there.
“So what I would expect personally is Penta beats Fenix in the finals. They hug. Penta faces Roman. That’s a cool match in Mexico. He ultimately loses. The Lucha Brothers embrace and reunite as a tag team.”
Whether WWE actually takes that exact route remains to be seen. The important part is that the reunion itself is what Self Made Pro says he was told to expect. That would also pay off something Penta and Fenix have been teasing themselves for months.
Penta recently told the Dallas Morning News that he knows “in my heart” the Lucha Brothers will eventually come back together, even though both men are currently enjoying the chance to build themselves separately. Fenix has been saying essentially the same thing, while Penta even teased a reunion during AAA Rey de Reyes earlier this year and immediately had the crowd chanting for the Lucha Brothers.
Now the brothers are both chasing Roman Reigns through the same tournament, and there’s reportedly a reunion waiting somewhere on the other side. Penta promised the Lucha Brothers would be back. WWE may finally be getting ready to collect on that promise.
