AEW just added more gold to the line at Wembley Stadium. Maya World will defend the TBS Championship against CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone during the AEW All In Buy-In.
The match was set during the August 29 episode of AEW Collision. A vignette aired featuring World, who called out Persephone for attacking her and challenged her to settle the score before the main card begins.
The bad blood exploded on Dynamite when World joined Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor against Divine Dominion and Persephone. Persephone used the TBS Championship as a weapon before pinning World to win the match for her team. She then stood over the champion and posed with the title, sending a loud message that she wanted another crack at the gold.
This won’t be their first championship fight. World previously defeated Persephone to retain the TBS Championship on July 29, but the CMLL Women’s Champion now has a pinfall victory over her heading into Wembley.
World could have ignored the attack and moved on, but she chose to put her championship at risk instead. Now Persephone has a chance to leave AEW All In carrying another company’s title—and World has a chance to make her pay for touching it in the first place.
