AEW is loading up Wednesday night’s three-hour Dynamite and Collision special with new matches coming directly out of the fallout from Double or Nothing.
Tony Khan announced that Chris Jericho will face Ricochet one-on-one with everyone banned from ringside on Wednesday, May 27, at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. The special begins at 8/7c on TBS and HBO Max.
The match follows Stadium Stampede at Double or Nothing, where Jericho and Ricochet were on opposite sides of the fight. Now, AEW is taking their backup out of the equation and forcing them to settle things without anyone at ringside getting involved. Khan announced the match on social media after the pay-per-view showdown.
“After their teams waged war in Stadium Stampede at #AEWDoN, Jericho/Ricochet will fight 1-on-1 with everyone banned from ringside TOMORROW NIGHT!”
That is not the only match AEW has added for Philadelphia. Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida will also collide in a Lights Out Philly Street Fight after their issue became even more violent at Double or Nothing. Shida struck Statlander with a kendo stick during the event, but Statlander did not come away looking for revenge through a normal wrestling match. She wanted another fight. Statlander challenged her former ally to bring the violence to Philadelphia.
“I want to do it all over again, and we’re going to be in the perfect place. So, Wednesday, my dear friend — me, you, and a Philly Street Fight.”
Shida wasted no time accepting, warning Statlander that she had pushed things too far.
“Stat, I’ve been really patient with you. But now my patience has run out. You want me in a Philly Street Fight? I run Philly. My fans, they always bring the ‘Shida Best Around’ sign. You want me? You got me.”
AEW will also feature new AEW World Champion MJF on the show, as he is scheduled to appear live following his title victory over Darby Allin in the main event of Double or Nothing.
With Jericho and Ricochet being isolated from their allies, Statlander and Shida heading into a Lights Out fight, and MJF returning to television with the AEW World Championship, AEW is wasting no time pushing several major Double or Nothing issues forward on the same night.
