MJF just took another shot at Adam Cole, and this one was as cold as it gets, as he made it clear he doesn’t want to see Cole come back from his injury.
MJF responded on Twitter to a photo of himself and Adam Cole from All In 2023. Instead of showing any sympathy over Cole’s uncertain in-ring future, MJF made it clear he still wants nothing to do with his former tag partner: “Hope he never comes back.”
That response comes at a time when Cole’s wrestling future is already under serious doubt. Cole was forced to vacate the TNT Championship in July 2025 after suffering a concussion, and reports have suggested people in AEW are preparing for the possibility that he may never wrestle again. Bryan Alvarez previously said the feeling around Cole’s situation was very concerning.
“The feeling is that he may not ever wrestle again, and it’s a very strong feeling in that direction. We shall see, but he’s still dealing with a lot of different things. All the best to him. What’s most important is the brain in his head. Wrestling is wrestling.”
Tony Khan has also made it clear that AEW is not trying to rush Cole back. Khan said Cole could remain part of the AEW family even if he never wrestles again, but any possible return would need to be safe and make sense. He stressed that head injuries have to be treated carefully, and AEW would only consider an in-ring return if everyone believed it could lead to a safe outcome.
“I think it would have to be the right situation for Adam to wrestle again. I think it’s, at least possible, for us to keep Adam as part of the family, but I want to get to where he feels good about travelling again. If he ever did want to wrestle again and it was the right situation and everyone could wrap their heads around it, so to speak, it would make a lot of sense. Anything involving head injuries or serious injuries, I always want to look at it and evaluate it to see if it makes sense and if we can do it safely where it’s gonna be a good outcome for everyone.”
MJF and Cole’s story remains one of AEW’s biggest what-if angles. Their partnership became one of the hottest acts in the company, but Cole’s ankle injury at Grand Slam 2023 derailed the momentum before the Undisputed Kingdom betrayal at World’s End later that year. MJF previously blamed Cole for ruining what he believed could have been a feud on the same level as his rivalry with CM Punk.
“The Adam Cole thing was on an even playing field with the CM Punk situation, but then it all went to s*** because Adam Cole got injured and betrayed me like a piece of s***.”
Now, with Cole’s future uncertain, MJF clearly isn’t softening his stance. Whether this was character work, real bitterness, or a mix of both, his message was brutal — and it landed right as fans are already wondering if Adam Cole will ever wrestle again.
