Mick Foley finally got to celebrate becoming WWE Champion, but apparently he had to do it while trapped in bed next to The Blue Meanie snoring and farting all night. Foley still remembers the hotel disaster decades later, and he says letting Meanie crash with him after the biggest victory of his career ranks among the biggest mistakes he ever made.

During a conversation with The Sportster, Foley was asked about the infamous story involving Blue Meanie after Foley’s WWE Championship victory. The Hardcore Legend remembered finding Meanie sitting alone in the hotel lobby because he had nowhere to sleep. Foley said Meanie looked completely defeated when he approached him and found out what was wrong.

“I saw him sitting out there in the lobby, forlorn. I was like, ‘Hey, Meanie, how are you doing?’ He says, ‘Not too good.’ I said, ‘Why?’ He goes, ‘They don’t have any rooms for me.’ And I went, ‘That’s too bad.’”

Foley could have gone upstairs, closed the door and enjoyed one of the biggest nights of his life by himself. Instead, his conscience got the better of him. After checking into a room with a king-size bed, Foley decided he couldn’t leave Blue Meanie stranded downstairs.

“I don’t know if I actually came back down to the lobby after I checked in. I was like, ‘I can’t in good conscience leave the Blue Meanie out there.’ I had a king-size bed.”

That decision went downhill fast. Foley had just experienced the career-defining moment of defeating The Rock to become WWE Champion, but instead of getting a peaceful night to soak everything in, he says he spent it listening to Blue Meanie make every possible noise in the bed beside him.

“So, for the record, I spent the biggest night of my career listening to the Blue Meanie snore and fart.”

Time apparently hasn’t softened Foley’s opinion of the experience either. Looking back, he made it clear that if he could relive the night, Blue Meanie would be finding somewhere else to sleep.

“And I was thinking, ‘If I had to do this all over again, no way would I have let him sleep in my bed.’ So, one of the biggest mistakes of my life, Blue Meanie. You turned that into one of the worst experiences of my career.”

Foley’s WWE Championship victory remains one of the defining moments of the Attitude Era, but his celebration clearly wasn’t nearly as glamorous once the cameras stopped rolling. He walked out that night as WWE Champion and somehow ended up sharing his bed with a snoring, farting Blue Meanie.

Would you have let Blue Meanie crash in your hotel bed, or would Foley have been better off leaving him in the lobby? Let us know what you think in the comments.
