Kenny Omega is back on top of AEW, and Mick Foley had plenty to say about it.
Omega defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship at AEW Dynamite: Beach Break on July 8 in Clearwater, Florida. The title change closed out the show, giving AEW a huge moment with “The Cleaner” reclaiming the company’s top prize.
Mick Foley, who also appeared on the show in an interview segment with Kyle Fletcher, later took to Instagram to react to Omega’s big win. Foley made it clear that he believes Omega earned this moment after everything he has battled through.
“CONGRATULATIONS KENNY!”
Foley then gave Omega major credit for fighting through injuries and adversity to get back to the top of AEW.
“Major congratulations to Kenny Omega for winning the AEW world title. Kenny has been so great for so long and deserves so much credit for overcoming his injuries and adversity to claim this title.”
Foley also praised the atmosphere in Clearwater, saying the crowd brought a special kind of energy despite the Florida heat.
“There was a feeling of electricity in that crowd in Clearwater Beach, Florida last night felt to me like a sense of community, despite the heat and humidity.”
Foley wrapped up his message by making it clear he is happy to be part of AEW and praised the company’s roster.
“I feel so fortunate to be working for this company and such an incredibly talented roster.”
Omega’s win gives AEW a major reset at the top of the card. MJF’s title run is over, and now Omega is once again carrying the AEW World Championship into a new chapter.
Foley has seen plenty of major wrestling moments up close, so his reaction says a lot. Now all eyes are on Omega to see what kind of reign he puts together this time around.
