Kenny Omega is back on top of AEW after taking the World Championship from MJF in a huge Dynamite main event.
This week’s AEW Dynamite closed with MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Omega in one of the biggest television matches the company has put on. The match came with massive stakes for Omega, because if he lost, he would never be allowed to challenge for the AEW World Title again.
Things got messy near the finish when MJF tried to bring the Dynamite Diamond Ring into play. Will Ospreay ran down and snatched it away before Friedman could use it, giving Omega a major opening.
Omega had a chance to blast MJF with the AEW World Title, but he stopped himself. That hesitation nearly cost him everything. MJF took advantage by hitting Omega with a low blow, then cracking him with the championship.
Omega kicked out at one. That moment changed the whole match. Omega fired back, drilled MJF with three V-Triggers, and then finished him off with the One Winged Angel to win the AEW World Championship.
The win puts Omega back in the top spot and ends MJF’s reign in dramatic fashion. Ospreay’s involvement also leaves AEW with another big thread hanging, because he directly stopped MJF from using the ring and changed the direction of the match.
Omega now has the title, MJF has a reason to be furious, and Ospreay is right in the middle of it all.
