Mick Foley’s appearance at AEW Redemption turned into something much more personal once the cameras stopped rolling. The WWE Hall of Famer reunited with Martha Hart and Owen Hart’s son, Oje, and the moment hit him harder than he expected.

Foley appeared during the Redemption Buy In before later showing up in a backstage segment with Divine Dominion. The Hart family was also at the event as part of the Owen Hart Foundation’s presence backstage.

After the show, Foley opened up on Instagram about seeing Martha and Oje again. He admitted he had carried some guilt over losing contact with the family following Owen’s death, but those feelings disappeared the moment they reunited.

“Owen Hart was one of the best friends I have ever known. He was also one of the finest people I have ever known, and I feel his loss to this day.”

Foley said he had worried that he let the Hart family down by not keeping in touch over the years. That concern didn’t last long once he entered the suite AEW had arranged for the Owen Hart Foundation.

“In a small way, I felt like I had failed the Hart family by not keeping in touch, but any worries I had instantly vanished upon walking into the suite that had been set up for the Owen Hart Foundation.”

The reunion gave Foley a sense of peace, especially after speaking with Martha. He also spent around 90 minutes watching AEW Redemption alongside Oje, who immediately reminded him of Owen.

“I felt such a sense of healing when I spoke to Martha, and I had the great privilege of watching about 90 minutes of AEW Redemption with son Oje, who is the spitting image of his father.”

Foley closed his message by encouraging people to go back and watch Owen Hart’s matches, making it clear that his respect for his late friend has never faded.

“Do yourselves a favor and watch a couple of classic Owen Hart matches. He was incredible.”

Foley’s AEW appearance may have been part of the show, but reconnecting with Owen Hart’s family clearly meant far more to him than anything that happened on camera. After years apart, the reunion gave him a chance to let go of some old guilt and remember one of his closest friends with the people who knew him best.
