Matt Riddle wasn’t always buying what John Cena was selling, but actually working with the WWE legend changed his mind in a big way.
While speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Riddle was asked what it meant to tag with Cena in WWE. Riddle didn’t just say it was cool. He said even having a conversation with Cena can change the way someone looks at pro wrestling. Riddle then admitted that he used to hate on Cena when he was younger, but that changed once he got older and saw how Cena carried himself behind the scenes.
“Tag with, having a conversation with John Cena is life-changing when it comes to the world of professional wrestling. Honestly, he’s a great guy. He holds himself with honor, respect, and honestly, when I was younger, I used to hate on John Cena. But then when you’re a grown man and you see him, you see the work he puts in and and he does and how he watches the fans and everything from the back into the crowd. Guys, he’s the man. He is I can’t see you. Guy is Peacemaker. He’s a star. He’s awesome and he’s hilarious. Have you seen his comedies? He’s funny. John Cena is hilarious and I love it.”
That is a huge change of tune from Riddle, especially since Cena spent years as one of the most polarizing stars in WWE. Plenty of fans hated on Cena during his Super Cena era, and Riddle clearly counted himself among them at one point.
Now, Riddle is giving Cena his flowers. After seeing the work Cena puts in, how he treats fans, and how he handles himself, Riddle made it clear that he sees him as the real deal. John Cena may not have won everyone over during his full-time WWE run, but he clearly earned Matt Riddle’s respect once they actually crossed paths.
