Samoa Joe is back in AEW, and Jack Perry got a headbutt instead of the handshake he offered. Joe made his return during the AEW All Out Tailgate Brawl, answering Perry’s challenge from the September 16, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Perry tried to greet Joe with an extended hand, but the former AEW World Champion answered with a headbutt. Joe’s return came after months away from television, and the confrontation immediately put him back in the middle of Perry’s business.
The moment paid off the challenge Perry made on Dynamite, when he told Joe to show his face and ended with, “Make my day.” AEW added another tease by showing “JOE IS GONNA KILL YOU” painted on a wall after Perry’s promo, as Ringside News covered at the time.
Joe announced in May that he would step away from AEW for a few months because of outside opportunities. His absence also lined up with his acting work on Twisted Metal, and Ringside News previously covered the reason behind his time away.
AEW brought Joe back during the Tailgate Brawl, which served as part of the lead-in to All Out. The return quickly turned into a physical confrontation, leaving Perry with a clear message from the man he had been calling out.
