Mark Henry just dropped a pretty big update on his son Jacob Henry’s WWE future — and it sounds like the second-generation prospect could finally be getting much closer to actually starting his wrestling career with the company.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Henry revealed that Jacob is expected to come into WWE in about a year. The update comes after Jacob recently went through a WWE tryout, despite already having an NIL deal with the company dating back to 2024. While discussing WWE’s future talent, Mark casually let it slip that he already knows someone who will be part of that next wave.
“I find it interesting as hell, and some of that is because I know that I have a kid that’s coming in, in a year.”
Charlie Dempsey immediately realized Mark was talking about Jacob and brought up meeting him when he came in for his WWE tryout.
“I met him. He came to do a tryout, didn’t he?”
Mark confirmed it was Jacob before revealing just how obsessed his son has become with wrestling. In fact, their relationship has apparently flipped around to the point where Jacob is now the one calling his Hall of Fame father to talk about what’s happening in WWE.
“Yeah, Jacob. Jacob is ate up with wrestling. He calls me, ‘Hey Dad, what’s up? What’s going on? Hey, did you watch SmackDown last night?’ It’s all about wrestling. Our relationship used to be mentoring him and telling him, and now it’s him telling me.”
Jacob’s WWE connection actually goes back more than two years. In August 2024, he announced at Remix Rumble that he had signed with WWE, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter later reporting that it was an NIL agreement rather than a deal that would immediately move him into professional wrestling.
The plan at the time was for Jacob to continue his college athletics career. He joined the University of Oklahoma’s wrestling program as a heavyweight and was also looking at football, so WWE was essentially investing in him for the future rather than immediately sending him into the ring.
Now that future suddenly feels a hell of a lot closer, and apparently Mark won’t have to convince his son to fall in love with the business when that day arrives. Judging by all those phone calls about SmackDown, Jacob is already wrestling-obsessed enough that the mentoring is starting to go in the other direction.
What do you think Jacob Henry’s ceiling could be in WWE once he finally makes the jump into professional wrestling? Let us know what you think in the comments.
