Mandy Rose knows exactly how much money can be made in the subscription-content business, but she isn’t convinced every giant dollar figure thrown around online should be taken at face value.
During her appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, the conversation turned to Sophie Rain and the massive earnings claims surrounding some of the biggest creators in the industry. The hosts brought up Rain’s claim that she has made more than $160 million and asked Rose whether she believes some creators exaggerate their income because the giant numbers themselves generate attention. Rose didn’t exactly dance around the question.
“Yeah, I think I think there’s definitely some fabrication going on. I think exaggeration going on.”
Rose was careful not to accuse every successful creator of making up their numbers. She knows from her own experience that the money available through subscription platforms can be enormous. Still, Rose believes at least some of the eye-popping figures floating around are inflated.
“I’m not saying that they don’t make what they make because listen, I’ve made incredible money on OAF and I know they have, I’m sure, as well.”
“Um, but I think there’s definitely some exaggeration going on. But I also think, you know what, if it’s part of part part of your marketing ploy, then so be it, right?”
That’s really the key to Rose’s take. A creator putting a monster earnings number out there doesn’t just tell people how successful they are — it becomes its own advertisement. Suddenly everyone is talking about the number, debating whether it’s real and sharing the creator’s name in the process.
Rose certainly isn’t questioning whether there’s serious money in the business. Elsewhere in the interview, she said subscription content completely changed her life financially and gave her the freedom to control and monetize her own image. She just isn’t buying every dollar amount without question.
