Vince Russo’s departure from JCW left fans with more questions than answers. While Russo made it clear why he decided to walk away, plenty of people immediately started wondering whether anyone close to him would be following him out the door.
One name kept coming up more than any other. Mac Davis became closely associated with Russo during his time in JCW, so after Russo’s exit was announced, Davis found himself answering the same question over and over from fans who assumed the two situations were connected. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Davis admitted he’d spent the day responding to calls, texts and messages asking if he was leaving JCW too.
“I’ve been asked this all day long. I’ve gotten all kinds of calls. I’ve gotten texts from people asking me if I’m still with JCW because they knew that I was kind of connected with Vince when he, after he got in.”
Davis acknowledged that Russo played a huge role in shaping what fans eventually saw on television, but he also wanted to clear up one misconception. Russo helped build his character after he arrived, but he wasn’t actually the person responsible for bringing him into JCW in the first place.
“The truth is, though, that Vince helped me get in there after the fact, as far as building me into the character that I became in JCW, or become in JCW.”
According to Davis, that opportunity came directly from Violent J, who offered him a job long before Russo became involved. With that out of the way, Davis gave the answer everyone had been waiting to hear. Russo leaving isn’t changing his plans.
“But it was Violent J who gave me that phone call and offered me a job out of nowhere, and Vince didn’t know about that. So, you know, I’m still there.”
He also revealed that he’s under contract through the end of 2026 and intends to honor that agreement before thinking about anything else. As for what happens once that deal expires, Davis isn’t making any promises one way or the other.
“I still plan… I’ve got a contract that runs to the end of this year, and until then I’m with JCW. And then after that, just depends on where we go after that.”
For now, Davis is separating his own future from Russo’s. He credits Russo with helping him grow as a performer, but made it clear his relationship with JCW didn’t begin with Russo—and it isn’t ending because Russo chose to leave. Once his current contract expires, he’ll decide what comes next, but that’s a conversation for another day.
