Mac Davis has heard Brett Lauderdale talk about GCW wrestlers bringing more viewers to JCW for weeks. He was willing to let it slide at first, but after overhearing a conversation behind the scenes, Davis says he realized Lauderdale apparently wasn’t just playing it up for the show.
During the official JCW Lunacy Episode 99 Post Show, Davis brought up a GCW commercial that aired during the show and asked Jeff what he thought about the growing GCW presence. Jeff had no problem with it. He believes the GCW wrestlers have added heat to the show and are doing exactly what they’re supposed to do by making people angry.
“Well, yeah. I wonder who popped that in there. Probably Vince Russo getting his GCW boys that he’s becoming friends with in there. I like these guys being involved with the show. They’re bringing a lot of heat to the show, and they’re getting people to be mad at them, which is their job, and I think they’re doing a great job at it.”
Davis saw things differently. He brought up Lauderdale repeatedly saying that GCW was there to help JCW bring in more views, something Davis originally understood as part of what was happening on screen. Then he overheard something that changed his mind.
“One of the things that you hear Brett Lauderdale always say is, ‘We’re here to help bring you some views.’ I’m thinking, ‘Okay, yeah, I get it. I get it. I know what’s going on.’ They freaking really believe that because I overheard a conversation that really took me off. They don’t know I heard that. I didn’t mention it to somebody else.”
That was where Davis stopped being diplomatic. In his view, GCW isn’t giving JCW the rub at all. He believes it is the other way around, and he made his point with an F-bomb.
“Guys, f*** you. Yeah. If anybody’s getting a rub, it’s you guys getting a rub from JCW. That’s God’s honest truth. You’re in there because you need the rub from us, not us from you.”
Davis then aimed the rest of his frustration directly at Lauderdale. Whatever relationship the two may have appeared to have before, Davis made it clear he doesn’t consider Lauderdale a friend.
“And by the way, Brett, don’t call me friend because I’m not your f**** friend. It’s just plain and simple. I tried to be nice. But when you come to our side of the camp and you decide you want to kind of lay down laws about what you are and aren’t going to do, f*** you. Just that simple. Those two words, that’s all I got to say. F*** you.”
Davis made one final distinction before moving on. He doesn’t have a problem with GCW wrestlers appearing on JCW or what they are doing as performers. His issue is with the idea that JCW somehow needs GCW to bring people to the show, especially considering how much work the JCW crew already puts in.
“Look, I don’t mind what they’re doing. I really don’t. But when I know that you really feel that way, then you’re really ticking me off because there’s a lot of people who work extremely hard in JCW.”
Davis apparently thought Lauderdale’s talk about boosting JCW’s views was just part of the game until he heard something backstage that convinced him otherwise. Now there’s no ambiguity about where he stands: if Lauderdale thinks JCW needs GCW for the rub, Davis wants him to think again.
