Logan Paul didn’t waste any time trying to turn Conor McGregor’s latest UFC setback into a massive WWE payday.
During a live episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast at Fanatics Fest, Paul and former UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley discussed McGregor’s future following his loss. O’Malley was convinced McGregor would eventually fight again, but Paul wasn’t nearly as confident.
Paul believes McGregor’s five-year absence from competition caught up with him. He also argued that McGregor is now doing more talking and promotion than actual fighting, putting him firmly in WWE territory.
That is when Paul revealed that he immediately contacted his WWE boss after McGregor lost and pitched a showdown between the two stars.
“I’ll be honest with you. I texted my boss after Conor lost. I was like, ‘Bro, Conor’s cooked. Do something with it. Make a bag. Let me fight him. Big WWE star versus big WWE star, because that’s what he is now.’”
Paul then claimed his boss did not believe McGregor would compete again. O’Malley disagreed and repeatedly insisted that the former UFC double champion still had another fight left in him.
“He said he thinks he’s done.”
Paul remained doubtful as O’Malley continued defending McGregor’s chances of returning.
“Are you sure, my guy? Are you sure? I don’t know, Sean. I don’t know. He’s on that knee now.”
O’Malley answered that McGregor would be back and still had “another left hand in him.” He also rejected the idea that UFC CEO Dana White would pressure McGregor into fighting simply to make money, saying he believes McGregor personally wants another opportunity.
Paul and McGregor have traded shots for years, but the idea of them meeting under the WWE banner would create one of the biggest celebrity matches the company could put together. McGregor has never competed for WWE, although his personality, promotional skills and long-running issues with several WWE stars have kept his name tied to the company.
Whether WWE has any interest in Paul’s pitch is another story. Paul made it clear that he already threw the idea directly at his boss, and he believes there is a huge bag waiting if McGregor is ready to step away from the Octagon and into a WWE ring.
