Logan Paul knows Paddy Pimblett wants to tear him apart, but WWE may be the only thing keeping that fight from becoming real.
During a live episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast at Fanatics Fest, Paul discussed Pimblett’s latest UFC performance with Sean O’Malley. The conversation turned to Pimblett’s past threat to rip Paul’s knee apart if they ever fought. Paul did not laugh off the threat. He openly admitted that he believes Pimblett could follow through after watching the UFC star submit Benoît Saint Denis.
‘I believe him. I think he would. We saw him do it to an elite fighter, bro.”
When Paul was asked what would happen if he came face-to-face with Pimblett inside the Octagon, he initially tried to defuse the situation with a joke about their hairstyles.
“First things first, give us both a haircut. I think if we started off with a nice trim.”
Paul then got serious about Pimblett’s abilities. He admitted he has said plenty about the UFC lightweight in the past, but watching Pimblett choke out Saint Denis changed his outlook.
“I’ve said a lot of sh*t, and then I saw him choke out Benoît Saint Denis. I was just like, ‘Damn.’ That was so impressive—wildly impressive. That dude’s a killer. He’s on a four-fight win streak. He’s fought the best guys.”*
Pimblett and Paul have gone back and forth publicly, with Pimblett making it clear that he does not like the WWE Superstar. Paul did not deny the bad blood, but he suggested the fight is unlikely to happen because WWE probably would not approve it.
“I don’t think WWE will let me fight anyone.”
That is a major roadblock for Paul, who has become one of WWE’s most heavily featured crossover stars. A legitimate MMA fight against a dangerous UFC contender carries a much different level of risk than performing inside a WWE ring.
Paul has boxing experience and has repeatedly talked about taking on fighters from other combat sports, but Pimblett would present an entirely different problem. Pimblett is a proven submission threat, and even Paul acknowledged that the UFC star’s warning about damaging his knee was not something he could dismiss.
Unless WWE changes its position on Paul taking real fights, fans probably should not expect to see him locked inside the Octagon with Pimblett anytime soon.
