The scary fall involving Sol Ruca at NXT Revenge didn’t just shock fans — it left the entire locker room worried as well.
After Ruca suffered a brutal landing during her Last Woman Standing match with Zaria — missing a table and hitting the back of her head before crashing through another — the visual alone raised immediate concern. Ruca later revealed the damage herself, showing a deep cut on her scalp that required staples. Now, there’s a clearer picture of how things felt behind the scenes.
Speaking on the Mark Hoke Show Pro Wrestling Radio Show, Kendal Grey described the exact moment the roster realized something had gone wrong — and how the reaction backstage was instant and serious.
“Honestly, we all back there—we were all watching—we were speechless. Like, we were just mouth wide open, speechless. We didn’t know how to react in that moment.”
Grey then explained what happened when Ruca made it back behind the curtain — a moment that shifted the mood from fear to relief, even though the situation was still clearly serious.
“And then when she came back—I mean, she’s awesome, she’s amazing at what she does. She comes back, she has a towel on her head, and she’s like, ‘Heck yeah,’ like, you know, she’s smiling and stuff. She’s awesome, but it was definitely a scary moment for all of us—just concern for her.”
She didn’t downplay the danger either, making it clear that while Ruca avoided the worst-case scenario, the outcome could have been much more severe.
“Obviously, that could be really, really bad. It was bad, but it could always be worse. So knowing that she came back with a positive mindset and was smiling and stuff was a reassuring moment, because all of us definitely were scared.”
This adds more context to what was already a worrying situation. The spot — which involved a shove off a platform toward two tables — didn’t go as planned, and Ruca’s head took the brunt of the impact before she went through the second table.
With Ruca recently making her move to Raw and building momentum following her interaction with Liv Morgan, the timing of the injury only raises more questions about what comes next. For now, her status remains unclear — but with both fans and the locker room reacting the way they did, it’s obvious just how close this came to being something much worse.
Do you think WWE should rethink these high-risk spots after scares like this, or is this just part of the reality of matches like Last Woman Standing? Drop your thoughts below.
