Liv Morgan still remembers the exact moment Dominik Mysterio torched Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam 2024 — and according to Liv, the crowd completely lost its mind when Dom grabbed her and planted a kiss on her.
Morgan looked back on the infamous moment during an IGN interview tied to WWE 2K26, where she was asked to name the greatest WWE crowd reaction she has ever experienced. She didn’t have to dig very deep.
The moment went down at SummerSlam on August 3, 2024, when Morgan defended the Women’s World Championship against Ripley. Dominik spent the match hovering around ringside, and by the time it was over, any question about whose side he was really on had been answered.
Dominik first stopped Ripley from using a steel chair, saving her from getting disqualified. Then things got messy. The chair ended up inside the ring, Dominik distracted the referee, and Morgan hit Oblivion onto the steel before pinning Ripley to keep the championship.
Then came the part everybody remembers. Dominik walked over to Morgan after the bell, picked her up and kissed her right in front of a furious Ripley. Morgan said she was still laid out from the match while the crowd tried to process whether Dominik had actually screwed Rhea on purpose.
“The goat WWE crowd reaction, and I don’t mean to toot my own horn, it’s when SummerSlam 2024 when Dominik Mysterio chose me over Rhea Ripley, and you know, I had beaten Rhea, and everyone was like, ‘Ah, did he really help her? Did he mean to help her?’ And I’m just like on the ground just like, ‘Owie.’ Cuz it was like a rough match, and then Dominik picks me up with his gentle manly hands, and grabs my face, and kisses me. Are you kidding me?”
Liv said the best part was just how split the building became. Some fans wanted Dominik’s head for what he had done to Ripley, while others were loving every second of Liv and Dom making things official.
“The crowd was like, But there was people that were loving it. There were people that were like, I wish I was Dominic. I wish I was Liv. And I feel like the crowd was just so polarized. Like if you saw Stephanie McMahon in the crowd, she was like, even Stephanie loved it. So it was just like iconic.”
The kiss was the payoff to months of Liv getting closer and closer to Dominik while Ripley was away from WWE television. Liv had already kissed Dom before SummerSlam, but he continued acting like Rhea was still his woman. That excuse died in Cleveland.
Dominik didn’t just help Liv beat Ripley. He picked Liv up, kissed her in front of the entire stadium and walked away with her while Rhea was left sitting in the ring watching the whole thing happen. The betrayal also blew The Judgment Day apart. Morgan and Dominik eventually lined up with Finn Bálor, JD McDonagh and Carlito, while Ripley and Damian Priest were kicked to the curb and forced onto the other side of the fight.
More than two years later, Liv clearly hasn’t forgotten the sound that building made when Dominik finally chose her. The match gave her the win, but that kiss was the moment that turned the whole story upside down — and judging by Liv’s reaction now, she enjoyed every second of it.
