Liv Morgan didn’t get handed her Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo role because she was a WWE Superstar either. She actually had to audition for the part, and apparently it didn’t take long for the people behind the movie to realize they had found their Megan.
During her interview with Japanese outlet Real Sound, Morgan explained exactly how she landed her first major feature film role. She recorded herself performing two scenes, sent the audition tape to the production team and waited to see what happened.
The response ended up being about as good as an actor could hope for. After watching Morgan’s audition, the production team apparently decided right away that she was the person they wanted for Megan.
“I filmed myself performing the two designated scenes and sent the tape (video) to the production team. After watching the footage, the production team said, ‘She’s Megan!’ and chose me.”
Morgan was already looking to branch out into more movies and television at the time, which made the opportunity even bigger for her. Once she saw the names attached to the project, she knew this wasn’t something she wanted to pass up.
“It was a time when I really wanted to try more movies and dramas, and with Shun Oguri and Lily James in the lead roles, Takashi Miike directing, and NEON involved, I felt incredibly fortunate to have seized such a valuable opportunity.”
Morgan spent time away from WWE television in May 2025 while filming the movie in Japan. She stars as Megan, a mysterious woman who comes to Japan to train as a sushi chef, alongside Shun Oguri, Lily James and Shotaro Mamiya.
Fans eventually got their first look at Morgan in the movie when NEON released the trailer in August 2026. Now it’s clear that her WWE fame may have opened plenty of doors throughout her career, but when it came to Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, she still had to send in the tape and win the role herself.
