LA Knight decided to pay tribute to Rey Mysterio during WWE’s live event in Liverpool, but things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
During a match involving Dominik Mysterio, Knight attempted to hit the legendary 619 made famous by Rey. Unfortunately for Knight, the move didn’t come off quite as smoothly as he probably envisioned.
The moment quickly made its way onto social media, where Knight was the first to poke fun at himself. Sharing the clip, Knight admitted the attempt didn’t go as planned but found a silver lining.
“Decided to try a 619 for the first time ever hahahaha Well, at least the slam worked.”
The video soon caught the attention of Rey Mysterio himself, who clearly got a kick out of seeing Knight try one of his signature moves. Rather than criticizing the execution, the WWE Hall of Famer joined in on the joke and even offered a suggestion for next time.
“Fkn love it!! Next time aim for the stache…. Yeaahhh!!”
While Knight may not be adding the 619 to his regular moveset anytime soon, the exchange gave fans a funny moment during WWE’s overseas tour ahead of upcoming television tapings and premium live event action.
Considering Rey Mysterio himself approved of the effort, Knight can probably chalk this one up as a successful experiment—even if Dominik wasn’t exactly on the receiving end of a perfect 619.
