WWE’s latest round of roster cuts sparked a lot of finger-pointing, but the focus is now shifting toward who actually made the calls behind the scenes.
Following the April 24, 2026 wave of departures that saw roughly 25 WWE stars let go, many believed corporate leadership under TKO was responsible. However, Fightful Select reports that the final decisions were handled internally by WWE leadership. According to WWE sources, multiple top figures were involved in the decision-making process.
“There is a lot of talk of TKO making the calls for the cuts. Triple H, Nick Khan and WWE talent relations were ultimately the primary decision makers, per WWE sources.”
Talent sensed something was coming before the announcements were made public. Tension backstage grew as Friday afternoon approached. Several wrestlers were informed shortly before the news spread online.
“The cuts were hugely speculated by talent all week, especially on Friday at 5 PM approached.”
“A number of talent began to find out around or before 5 PM ET that they were released or their deals would not be extended.”
This paints a clearer picture of how the process unfolded behind the scenes, with WWE leadership taking the lead rather than corporate executives making individual decisions.
With the size of these releases already drawing strong reactions, attention will likely remain on WWE leadership as fans and talent continue reacting to the fallout.
Do you think Triple H and WWE leadership made the right decisions with these releases, or should things have been handled differently? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
