Kevin Owens has been gone for a long time, but he may have just dropped the kind of tease that gets WWE fans paying attention fast.
Owens has been out of action for roughly 16 months after dealing with a serious neck injury that required surgery. That injury kept him away from WWE television and forced him to miss the last two WrestleMania events. Now, fans are wondering if KO’s comeback is finally getting close.
On Tuesday morning, Owens posted a cryptic image on social media. It showed The Boogeyman holding a clock, which is not exactly a random choice. The Boogeyman’s whole creepy act was tied to the “tick tock” line, and fans immediately started reading into the message.
Owens did not explain the post, but the message felt pretty clear to a lot of people: the clock may be ticking on his WWE return. That would be huge timing for WWE. The main event scene has changed a lot while Owens has been away. Sami Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions, only to lose it to a returning CM Punk on RAW. That creates a very interesting lane for Owens whenever he is cleared to come back.
Owens and Zayn have one of WWE’s most complicated relationships. They have been best friends, bitter enemies, partners, and everything in between. If Owens returns while Zayn is still dealing with the fallout of losing the title, WWE would have plenty of story waiting for him.
There is still no confirmed return date for Kevin Owens, and WWE has not announced anything official. Still, Owens does not post something like The Boogeyman holding a clock without knowing fans will start connecting dots.
For now, all fans can do is wait. But after more than a year away, Kevin Owens may have just given everyone the first real sign that his WWE return countdown has started.
