Kevin Nash has some serious questions about the moon landing, and one piece of NASA footage apparently had the WWE Hall of Famer wondering how the hell everything was supposed to fit on that spacecraft.
During the latest episode of Kliq This, Nash and Sean Oliver somehow went from talking about technology that could potentially regenerate human teeth to flying cars, futuristic inventions and eventually NASA putting astronauts on the moon. That’s when Nash made it clear he’s skeptical about what he’s seen from the Apollo missions. Nash didn’t dance around it either. While talking about technology people have been told to accept over the years, he suddenly took a shot at the spacecraft used during the Apollo era.
“We’re still believing that a fucking bunch of f*cking tubes with aluminum foil wrapped on it landed on the moon.”
For some actual history, Apollo 11 became the first crewed mission to land humans on the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the surface aboard the Lunar Module Eagle while Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit aboard Columbia. Armstrong and Aldrin spent just over two and a half hours outside the spacecraft during their moonwalk. Nash’s biggest issue, though, involved footage he had recently watched featuring a Lunar Module and astronauts driving around in the Lunar Roving Vehicle. He couldn’t figure out where NASA was supposed to have hidden the thing.
“I watched one the other day and they showed like the lunar module and they showed the guy standing next to it and then like in the same f*cking scene is this guy driving this moon buggy and it’s like where was the f*cking moon buggy at? Like what? Like what the fuck? It wasn’t like they put it together.”
Oliver jumped in and said the rover was on the spacecraft and was deployed, but Nash still couldn’t get over how strange the whole setup looked to him. Oliver said, “It was on the ship. They dropped.” Nash responded:
“Yeah. I mean, what the f*ck? It’s like the Anzio invader. They’re dropping. Come on, man.”
There is an important detail here: Apollo 11 never carried a moon buggy. The Lunar Roving Vehicle wasn’t used until Apollo 15 in July 1971, when astronauts David Scott and James Irwin became the first people to drive on the lunar surface. NASA’s own Apollo 15 documentation explains that the rover was specifically designed to fold down into a compact package and fit inside a wedge-shaped storage compartment on the Lunar Module’s descent stage. Once the astronauts landed, they unfolded and deployed it onto the surface.
So if Nash was watching footage of astronauts driving around beside a Lunar Module, he was looking at one of the later Apollo missions rather than Apollo 11. Apollo 15 was the first to use the rover, with Apollo 16 and Apollo 17 also carrying Lunar Roving Vehicles.
The moon conversation then turned into something bigger for Nash. He and Oliver talked about how difficult it has become to trust what people see anymore, especially in an era where AI and manipulated content can make almost anything look convincing.
Nash may not be buying everything he sees in NASA footage, but at least the mystery of where they stuffed the moon buggy has an answer — they literally designed the damn thing to fold up and fit inside the Lunar Module. Whether that changes Nash’s mind about the rest of the Apollo missions is another story entirely.
