Kevin Nash isn’t buying the idea that Michael Jackson’s massive settlement was just business.
During a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, Nash and Sean Oliver got into the endless documentaries and movies about Michael Jackson. The conversation turned to the allegations against Jackson and the huge settlement tied to one of his accusers. Nash didn’t dance around it. He said the money alone raises a huge red flag.
“Why would you cut a check to a 9-year-old kid for 21 million bucks?”
Sean Oliver pushed back and said Jackson’s lawyers may have told him to settle so the headlines would stop, his catalog would be protected, and he could get back to making music. Nash still wasn’t having it. He then made it even clearer that he believes people do not usually hand over that kind of money unless there is something ugly behind it.
“If you cut a check for $21 million, I mean, that’s I don’t need a guilty verdict. You just gave it to me. Nobody’s cutting that kind of cheddar to shut some lying fool up.”
Nash’s comments came during a larger talk about whether fans can separate an artist’s work from the person behind it. Nash said he can still hear certain songs and remember where he was in life, but when it came to the settlement, he clearly had no interest in giving Jackson the benefit of the doubt.
