Kairi Sane might not be finished with WWE just yet — even after being released.

Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez says there’s internal belief that Sane could show up at Backlash this Saturday to wrap up her storyline with IYO SKY and Asuka.

“Within WWE, it’s felt there is a better than 50% chance that Kairi shows up at Backlash to at least finish off that storyline.”

That’s the key update. Sane was heavily involved in the ongoing angle between SKY and Asuka before being released as part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 cuts. The storyline had her caught in the middle, with Asuka pressuring her to prove loyalty while tensions with SKY kept building.

Now, even with her release, there’s a real possibility she comes back — at least for one night. A singles match between SKY and Asuka is already set for Backlash in Tampa, Florida, which would make it the perfect spot for Sane to reappear and close the loop.

Nothing is confirmed beyond that. It’s unclear if this would be a one-off appearance or something more, but the idea being discussed internally says a lot about how important she still is to that story.

For now, the door isn’t fully closed — and Backlash could be where things play out.

Do you think Kairi Sane should return at Backlash to finish the story, or should WWE move on without her? Let us know your thoughts.
