Jonathan Coachman just dropped a pretty wild claim about Road Dogg’s WWE exit, and Chelsea Green is apparently right in the middle of it. According to Coachman, Brian James was fired from WWE because he supported Green and believed the company should be doing more with her.

The subject came up during an episode of The Coach and Bro Show with Vince Russo after a viewer argued that WWE had been limiting Green despite what she could actually do in the ring. Coachman agreed and claimed somebody backstage had already lost his job after fighting for her.

“I would love—she’s really good at keeping it positive—but I would love to know what she really thinks, even though she’s a champion and the crowd, I feel like, has kind of pushed her to these heights despite them.

I mean, a guy got fired. He got fired over his support for Chelsea Green. Let’s say what it is. Brian James got fired. Yeah, that’s what happened because he thought Chelsea—and it’s amazing now, whatever it’s been, six months, a year since he left, and now I wonder what he feels about when he sees her on top and he’s like, ‘I’ve already—I said that a year ago or a year and a half ago.’ That’s got to be so incredibly frustrating.”

Russo pointed out that watching Green succeed now could also feel pretty damn good for James if he really was pushing for her long before WWE finally gave her a bigger opportunity.

“Well, it’s got—yeah, but it’s got to make him feel good, too.”

Coachman agreed and suggested there could be a little revenge factor involved now that Green has reached the top.

“That he knew what he was talking about, bro. You know, it’s a little revenge factor there.”

There’s also some pretty interesting history here when you look at what Road Dogg himself was saying about Green just a few months ago. Back in August, Green finally captured her first WWE world title when she won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. James publicly congratulated her afterwards, but he also had one pretty pointed question for WWE.

“So congratulations, Chelsea Green. The hard part for me is, why did it take so long for others to see?”

Road Dogg then blamed what he called “top guys vision” for leaving talented wrestlers sitting on the sidelines instead of getting the opportunities they deserve.

“‘Top guys vision’ leaves a lot of talent underutilized. Not a knock, just the truth.”

Whether there’s more to the story remains to be seen, but Coachman certainly didn’t present it like a theory. He flat-out said James was fired over his support for Green — and Road Dogg’s own comments months later make it pretty obvious he still believed WWE should have recognized her potential much sooner.

Do you think Road Dogg’s August comments about Chelsea Green carry more weight after Jonathan Coachman’s claim about his WWE firing? Let us know what you think in the comments.
